Caloundra Cup, Sunshine Coast
Weather: Fine Track Condition: Heavy 10 Track Type: Turf Rail Position: True Entire Course
Factors: This track is as wet as it gets. Obviously look for mudlarks and also horses that might normally prefer a longer distance than they are racing over today.
Race 1: Vipera Gold has a lot in her favour, wet-tracker, races well here and claim. Miss Barwang also handles, Mossriver maybe. Comahni is value, won here in heavy and not disgraced last start. Neriani has no wet track form.
Numbers: 7ew, 1, 3, 2.
Race 2: Ausworld grows a leg in the wet and one of the main chances. Grey Assignment placed in heavy, but yet to win in it, but gets his chance here. Telesto Warrior racing in career best form and does handle the going.
Numbers: 7, 6, 8, 10.
Race 3: It is a tough ask to win first-up on heavy, but I expect Product to run a big race. Of the rest 1000m is as far as most will go so there will be several with a stitch at the end of this in the bog. The Ringmaster has won at 1350, but has no heavy form. Not a good betting race.
Numbers: 10ew, 2, 7, 8.
Race 4: Holey Gadoley is rock hard fit, handles the wet, racing well and looks the winner. Canningly can improve and should race handy.
Number: 1, 4, 13, 8.
Race 5: If there is one that deserves a win it is Double Impact. He only needs to run up to his last start behind mental to give this a shake. There was nothing wrong with Diet’s win at Ipswich. On home track here, heavy track winner. Playtime ran nice race last start, mixes form in wet.
Numbers: 1, 5, 13, 7.
Race 6: Jetset Lad should be primed for this and heavy track a bonus. Belltone winner in slow, heavy a query, but if he gets through it will fight out finish with the Kiwi. Meet George and Steel Zip get through the going and can improve on their last runs.
Numbers: 3, 7, 10, 8.
Roughie: (15) Machination.
Race 7: No doubt Shenzhou Steeds is best horse in the race, but he rises 4 kilos on Ipswich Cup win and hits a bog, which will be chopped up by this race. Can still win, but no value at the odds and definite risk. Roi D’Jeu looks nicely placed after fair Sydney staying form. Winmara trained here and swims. Spechenka can also improve in the going.
Numbers: 6, 4, 9, 1.
Race 8: Nice value runner here in Daneomite. The five-year-old is trained on the course and made up ground behind Signified last start. Kiss Me Deadly is consistent and will be finishing off strongly. Claim helps Mr Orient, who also gets through the ground.
Numbers: 6, 8, 1, 10.
