Gold Coast Look - May 5
Rail Position: True Entire Course.
Track Condition: Heavy 8 at 7.45am.
Factors: Track condition could improve. With current rating bias may favour on-speed runners.
Race 1: Get the worst race of the day out of the way early. Mainly the usual suspects, but couple of southern visitors Viking Hero and Fruehling add some interest. Fruehling, is likely to target better races and will improve on whatever he does today, but is a definite risk at short odds .
Numbers: (if you must) 1,4,11,3.
Race 2: Machination is rock hard fit and is definitely one for exotics after being around the money in recent runs. Triskele trained here and racing consistently. The Fifthhole might be paddling the last 50m, but he will look the winner at some stage in the straight. Tafeer should get the gun run and is a definite threat.
Only query for Rocker is the heavy track rating, heavy or drier he should be winning. Ruapehu Boy a definite hope, loves the track and the going.
If Sizzling is right he will beat these and by all reports he has been doing well on the track. Dansonate had no luck last start, is honest fit and trained here. Dansal has a change of jockey, which should make a huge difference.
Funtantes ran a great race last start and right in the mix here, but unplaced two runs this track. Alltherightmoves super consistent and has a lot in her favour. Dual Chamber was huge run last start, if bias favours backmarkers she is a threat.
Playtime is a query at the trip, but her first-up run was super and she is nicely placed here under the set weight scale. Plenty of class in the race, with NZ Oaks winner Miss Artistic and promising Darley filly Angelus, but both will not be looking to peak today. Hidden Jewel fit and racing well and should box seat.
Mid Summer Music has been around the money in stronger company and wet track winner, alley slight concern, but goes forward. If track improves Listen Son comes into the mix. Carry Me Bluey will be hitting the line.
Race 8: The Hollindale is a tough race to line-up. Old-timers Scenic Shot and Triple Honour are finding form. Anthony Freedman's imported stayer Mawingo is high up in Doomben Cup markets along with Sydneysider Foreteller. Kiwi mare Shez Sinsational has been killing them in NZ..
If Easy Running not hit a dead end last start he would have won by further, he was impressive and a repeat here should see the three-year-old winning again. Morning Captain in outstanding form and races on home track for the first time. State Of Wealth has drawn the car park, but it might be OK by the time this race is on and his last start was a cracker.
Best Bet: Rocker (Race 3).
Best Roughie: State Of Wealth (race 9).
