Rail: True, entire course Track condition: Good 3 Factors: Plenty of short priced favourites and barring a couple of tricky races, should be a good day for punters. Michael Cahill ($2.60), through weight of numbers, should have the edge over Chris Munce in the jockey challenge. Larry Cassidy great value at $15.
Race 1: Ordinary betting race. Transporter steps up in grade, but has been impressive winning last three and looks the one to beat again. Danagaze won well last start, chance if he repeats. Emoticon good cushion winner and has run some decent races when brought to town.
Numbers: 3, 1, 4, 5.
Race 2: Purringa steps up to the mile for the first time, but on last effort at GC should handle it. Platinum State ran well last start, back to track where won his two starts. Antarctic Dream is only one in this field that has won over the trip, good effort latest.
Numbers: 2x, 1, 4, 3.
Race 3: Jugahlation drops back in distance after battled on at first run here. Theft is better than these, has 59kgs to contend with, but races well first-up and should box seat. Found The One also resumes after long break, consistent before a break and has trialled well.
Numbers: 1, 4, 2, 7.
Race 4: A lot of these met last start when Solebid had all the favours and won the race and is no value today. There were three good runs in the beaten brigade and all are hopes of turning the tables. Provided he is ridden quieter, Mr Orient will be right in the mix. Jet Style was three deep the entire, forget the run, can improve. Jack’s Back, worked home well and a change of rider is a positive.
Numbers: 2, 8, 7, 4.
Race 5: Lucky Luna won well latest, but yet to win here in 17 attempts, so $3.20 not enticing. Poor Judge can probably win the race but hard to back a short priced ($1.90) seven-year-old with a history of leg issues on a rock hard surface. He also beat no-names last couple. Hour Of Peril has been around the money and War Ends was third behind a smart one last start, both are value runners. Bold Glance is the class runner, but has been inconsistent.
Numbers: 7ew, 1, 3, 8.
Race 6: Flying Jet has 3kg weight rise to contend with, but was impressive last start and gets the gun run from a nice alley. Cuddlesome up in class, down in weight and looks promising. Sweet Little Filly resumes and should be running on.
Numbers: 3, 7, 2, 4.
Race 7: Hard race and three 10-year-olds go around. Young gun Morning Captain resumes, has trialled well and has good record first-up. Latin News is fitter for first-up run when raced well. The Sixties is consistent and old-timer Ollie Vollie still has some life left in his legs. Too Many Reds also solid last start winner.
Numbers: 4, 9, 2, 6.
Race 8: Toughest race of the day. Caellum will go forward from a wide gate and race on the bunny, could prove hard to run down. Dorchester had no luck last start, can improve. Run Royal Run fell in last start, but race was not run to suit. Out to a mile here he should get a nice run and is right in the mix. Dienekes drops in class and comes in well with allowance. Primary Colour hit the line well latest. Nobody’s Johnny also has class drop.
Numbers: 3, 6, 1, 9.
