Tattersall's Cup Day, Eagle Farm.
Weather: Overcast. Rail: Out 5m Entire Circuit. Track Condition: Dead 4
Factors: Surface wise it should be fair playing field for all runners. Watch how the day unfolds, with rail out after recent racing lanes may have developed and bias could be a factor.
Race 1: Raise Up is honest and should be hitting the line again. Signified beaten favourite latest when didn’t handle heavy.
Kelso Wood in form and talented Kiwi apprentice rides Signified, but always tough first ride on a new course. Dux Bellorum and Captain Clayton fitter for recent racing.
Numbers: 2, 4, 8, 3.
Roughie (5) Daneomite.
Race 2: Very tough race. Three outsiders I would not leave out of exotics are Mazzano, In A Storm and Black Magic. Brian Smith’s runners State Of Wealth snd Longshoreman are in the mix. Kelbenjar in well with claim and should be handy. Howmuchdoyouloveme solid winner latest on heavy, up 4kg here. Viking Heart will appreciate this trip.
Numbers: 2, 6, 10, 7.
Race 3: Bianca Jewel is smart when right and will be better suited on this surface than recent wet track form. Dusty Gold looks nicely placed here and should appreciate the big track. Oak Street on pacer and will be hard to run down. Fire Up Fifi is nicely in with claim.
Numbers: 5ew, 9, 8, 11.
Race 4: It is highly likely Hoss Amour will look the winner at some stage in the straight. There is a query about the 1400m, but not for mine. She won with authority last start and the 1400m at Eagle Farm can be easier for on pacers, as the early pressure is off. Caliente, Sunset Affair run on. Discreet should race closer today and be hard to beat.
Numbers: 8x, 9, 12, 11.
Race 5: Top two Firebolt and Jetset Lad look to have it between them. Firebolt has not won for a long time, but cannot fault his form or zest during the winter here. Jetset Lad on the seven day back-up and looks the danger. Listen Son finally gets a suitable surface and will lead and be hard to run down.
Numbers: 1, 3, 2, 7.
Race 6: Could be a race to scout wide if chasing the quadi. Kinnersley tried hard in Ipswich Cup, backs-up and on speed runner. Wazn should take improvement from nice effort in Brisbane Cup. Mr Light Blue runs his best races here. Once Were Wild also in the mix. Maythehorsebemagic, tough stayer.
Numbers: 6, 4, 15, 11.
Race 7: Red Tracer bypassed the Stradbroke and set for this. Waller-Bowman lovely mare, thriving here and looks the one to beat. Soft Sand bad gate, but good record fresh and there wasa lot to like about the way she trialled at Doomben last Tuesday. Stradbroke winner Mid Summer Music has wide draw to contend with. Shopaholic ran super race in Straddy, in the mix. Divorces ran nice race behind Red Tracer latest.
Numbers: 2, 17, 6, 15.
Race 8: Stablemates Griffon and Excellantes sure to be in the mix. Expect Colless to use the rails draw to his advantage on Audacious Spirit. He will possy where he wants and ensure the four-year-old gets the gun run. Tromso/Waller definite chance.
Adebisi is a query after chequered preparation, but chance if on his game.
Numbers: 10, 4, 3, 8.
Roughie: (11) River Lad.
