Rail Position: 6 metres 800m - 375m; 4 metres remainder.
Track Condition: Good 3
Factors: Plenty of shorties for favourite backers, yet not convinced punters will come out on top at the end of what could be a tricky day with the rail out. Rosie Myers ($3.20) is the pick for the jockeys' challenge. The $13 for any other individual rider might be a good saver.
Someday is probably at his right odds against this field, but short odds not enticing. He chases a hat-trick, but his last win while solid was a very hard run from a wide gate. Improvement from Choral and Blow A Kiss would not surprise. Gunner Knox resumes and has solid first-up record.
Numbers: 7, 1, 8, 4.
The two main chances are Topping and Grey Assignment. Both consistent and racing well, Topping a little more hardened for the 2000m gives him the edge. Magic Tartan has been looking for this trip and looks the only knock-out chance.
Numbers 2, 3, 6, 1.
Really like this horse Better Than Ready, blinkers come off, but should not matter he is destined for better things. Grayson Square nice win on debut. Reflectance chased home the topweight last start and will probably do it again.
Numbers: 1x, 5, 3, 2.
Topweight Say No More is Group 1 winner and everything points to her being the one to beat. However, her Doomben trial was OK without being super and she has to contend with big weight and much firmer racing surface than she is used to in NZ. Beggin, Sea Marvista and Punch On all likely improvers after first-up runs.
Numbers: 6ew, 1, 7, 8.
Noble Jester should ge the gun run from one alley and will lead if likes or let something like Revitalise go forward from a wider draw. Small field and bad start for horses drawn wide so Alvitas might need some luck early. Gold Shears races well here.
Numbers: 10, 4, 6, 2.
Woeful race. Silver Command best performed, but steps up from midweek class, yet can still probably get away with it because of the lack of quality opposition. Triskele, Horoscopes and Daytime Dazzler the pick of the rest. Chandra is third-up and can improve
Numbers: 8, 5, 9, 10.
Around The World was well tried last start, but raced poorly suggesting something was not right with the mare. She is up to these and in well with claim provided she is in peak order. Empress Me resumes, has trialled OK and has good first-up record. Product carries no weight here, fitter and likes this track. Gypsy Pearl made light of a big weight last start, will handle the class rise and looks the winner.
Numbers: 14x, 8, 1, 9.
Cryon had no luck last start, down in weight and can improve. Pure Purrfection let down strongly last start and scored accordingly. She should cope with the weight and class rise, not sure Doomben will suit. Vaarwel resumes, trialled well at GC and runs well fresh, market moves probably best guide to his chances. Inventory has ability when right, should hit the line well. Lady Montel in form and nicely placed with claim.
Numbers: 4, 6, 5, 1.
