Doomben Look - May 12.
Rail Position: True Entire Course.
Track Condition: Dead 4, at 7.45am.
Factors: Plenty of invaders with big wraps. First ''dry'' track in weeks for locals.
Sydneysider Angel Of Mercy won in Listed company last start, looks better than these. One Lickety Split could run a cheeky race, query on Mourasana.
Exellantes has to lump 60kg, but there is no doubt he is the best horse in the race, coming off super first-up run. Gets a nice passage from a good gate and should win. The 7-day back-up, after a tough run on heavy, should be a concern for fans of Demanding Miss.
It was an outstanding effort by Better Than Ready on debut. Sydney visitor Hoss Amour has admirers, but with natural improvement More Than Ready should step up and win again today. Boban trialled strongly last Tuesday.
Seek and Find has developed into a handy sprinter, but is yet to win first-up and has to lump 58kgs here. Tycoon Tattoo unplaced in six goes here. Race looks tailor made for Nuptse, who leads or takes a trail from good gate. Victorian Rescue Mission is super consistent.
Roughie: (9) Beachcomber.
Very ordinary race to start the quadrella and tough to line-up. Streets Away ran a nice race at the Gold Coast last week. It was in weaker grade than several of these who ran poorly in the Hollindale, which could be put down to a heavy track. The favourite is likely to be topweight Six O’Clock News, but not sold on his third in the 3200m Auckland Cup last start. The nice weight, value and the fact he races well this track swings me to Bailey trained Streets Away.
Roughie (3) Shuffle The Cash.
There was a lot to like about Trump’s last start and he is definitely one of the main hopes. Topweight Isopach has found form over this trip. Kiwi Nashville is in the mix, but jockey new here. Another NZer Poste Restante has reportedly worked well since arriving. Brambles is a risk for mine on last run. Didn't hit the line at end of 1600m, but may have needed it.
Very open race, with several query’s. Adebisi (last start flop) Woorim (virus), Beaded (close to being retired). Temple Of Boom comes here after fast finishing win in Grp 1 Galaxy, speed will be on which will suit. Neeson is consistent and raced well during the Sydney autumn. Satin Shoes can improve on this surface. Three-year-old Sea Siren faces toughest test, but has huge potential.
Roughie: (8) Adebisi.
Not sure Oak Street will get his own way in front today, but from the good gate he can take a sit and will look the winner at some stage. No doubt Solzhenitsyn will start favourite. He will get back and probably need some luck and if it has been a day for swoopers he is the one. Mossriver ran a great race last start, she has drawn well, loves it here, the only downside is the 7-day back-up after running a great race in the GC bog.
